Abstract

Abstract   Woodcut or woodblock printing is the oldest graphic art media in the West, developing around the year 1400s. From the 5th century BC until now textile printing was considered the right method to introduce the color and design of the motif that would be applied to the surface of the fabric. Brands and designers who use woodblock printing techniques in their works such as Jaitexart, Studio Bagru and SZ Blockprints. The resulting texture from woodblock is unique and has its own peculiarities. Based on this description, the author would like to try applying wood block printing techniques with the direct coloring method and coloring using barriers with qualitative research methods that are, observation, literature and exploration. The final result of this research is textile products in the form of fabric that will be applied to fashion products that are outer and kaftan with classic batik pattern using Woodblock printing techniques.  Keyword: Expressive, Texture, Woodblock
