Abstract

Abstract Cual is a woven fabric from Bangka Belitung which is made by sungkit with using gold thread. Tenun Cual fabric also has a variety of inspired pattern by nature around philosophy that can be translated into daily life, but at this time the existence of Cual fabric was not realized by the public. It was stated directly by the Badan Kerajinan Nasional that Cual fabric is almost extinct, therefore it is necessary for innovation both from weaving and pattern. The method used in this study is a qualitative method of doingliterature studies, observations and interviews regarding collecting data about Cual and its current developments. Then the method of exploration, stylation, compositing and coloring. The results of this study are in the form of innovation from Cual fabric motifs with more modern style but still keep the rules of composing Cual’s pattern. The exploration results applied to fabrics measuring 200 cm x 150 cm using digital printing techniques, then applied to ready to wear fashion products with reference to Bangka Belitung’s bridal wear designs and analysis of the market target and brand comparison as an approaches method. The results of this study are expected to increase the variety of Cual's pattern to make it more known by the community.
