Pengolahan Benang Tukel Menggunakan Teknik Sulam Pada Produk Fesyen

Abstract

Abstract Natural fiber is one of the potential textile raw materials by the Indonesian nation. Potential can be well de-veloped when there is an effort to innovate and create. One of the sources of natural fibers that can be used is many fibers from cotton plants cultivated in theTuban city. Cotton fiber processed into strands of yarn called tukel yarn. Where so far the development of tukel yarn has been used only in making the woven fabric. And if considered in terms of their charac-teristics and there is potential in the uniqueness of the yarn to use other techniques can be processed in weaving , one of the embroidery techniques. Considering in indonesia has showed that art decorate it has long been a part of life people will value laden filososfis and aesthetically , but its position is less desirable caused by several factors. It will be made several experiments on thread embroidery tukel used technique which then manifested into fashion products. This study began from the observation that undertaken directly to the Tuban city and ask some questions to a craftsman to know more in the material of tukel yarn . Besides it literature study to obtain concrete information. The last step of exploration to know a good technique when process of tukel yarn using a embroidery techniques This study is expected to be able to present a novelty both in terms of technique and visual as well as to increase people's interest in the existing traditions.
