Abstract

ABSTRACT Cassava (Manihot Utilissima) or cassava is classified as an annual tropical dan sub-tropical tree from Euphorbiaceae and the third largest food after rice and corn in Indonesia. With the large number of cassava in Indonesia, cassava processing has not been used optimally. Cassava peel has the potential that can be developed in textile field but there are still many who don’t know about it. Surface Design technique is a technique used in applying cassava peel paste on fabric to create a motifs. This research was created to develop a previous research by Fitriani (2017), a Telkom University Student on the processing of cassava peel at Cirendeu traditional village as an alternative material for fabric resist by optimizing and developing the function of cassava peel paste used as the main material, the surface design technique used, as well as the motifs that were made. So, in additition to utilizing the potential of the area but also creates the development of surface design technique in the application and visual appearance of cassava peel paste produced on textiles to create motifs.
