Abstract

ABSTRACT Weaving is already known as a textile product. One of the traditional textile products in Indonesia, especially in Java, is Gedog woven from Tuban Regency. Tuban is one of the districts on the north coast of East Java that has batik and Tenun Gedog, precisely in the Kerek District. The technique of processing textiles in Indonesia is very diverse, one of which is a celup rintang in addition to batik also has another technique that is tie dye. Therefore, there is potential for the development of techniques in Gedog Tuban fabric by combining the techniques of tie dye, namely batik and tie-dye, to produce a new visual form on Batik Gedog Tuban. This research method is qualitative in which the researcher conducts a literature review, observation, interview and exploration. The exploration process consists of several stages, namely the exploration process to find out whether Tenun Gedog cloth can be processed with tie dye technique, the exploration process combines tie dye and batik tie techniques, and the exploration process combines tie dye and batik tie techniques using the principle of putihan batik. The results of this study are realized in the ready to wear adult women's clothing collection. It is hoped that this research can become a reference for the world of Textile and Fashion Crafts and the world of fashion designers by working with uplifting local culture.
