Abstract

ABSTRACT Hand Tufting is a simple technique to stitch yarn into cloth so as to form small tassels. Hand tufting techniques can only be applied to fabrics that have woven structures that can split one of them is gedog weaving cloth. Data obtained based on the results of interviews showing gedog weaving fabrics are woven fabrics decorated gedog motif. The raw material is made from organic cotton that is harvested by itself and spun into a yarn Tukel. Gedog weaving fabric has the potential to apply hand tufting technique because it has a fabric structure that is stretched and split. The result of hand tufting technique using Tukel yarn with gedog Weaving media is impressed, natural, not perfect, and rough but it can show a beautiful side of imperfections. Seeing the potential, the authors provide innovations in engineering development of gedog weaving fabric Tuban using hand tufting techniques by wearing Tukel yarn in order not to eliminate the characteristic of Tuban. The final result of this study will be applied to fashion products ready to wear deluxe with rustic style and silhouettes of oversize pieces. Keywords: Hand Tufting, Tukel yarn, Gedog weaving Tuban
