Abstract

ABSTRACT Vetiveria Zizaninoides is a kind of grass that can grow throughout the year. Vetiver root plant has been known for a long time as a source of perfume, because one of the processing that is used as an essential oil that has many benefits. This essential oil can be used for medicine, perfume, cosmetics, soap, and others. But from one time the process of making essential oil can produce about 2 tons of black vetiver waste that has no fragrant. Usually the waste is only allowed to accumulate, discarded or used as fuel for further distillation process. Vetiver waste has potential to be reprocessed into something more useful, because still has strength at the roots. The purpose of this research is to utilize vetiver waste as raw material of an interior textile product that has function value and can increase economic value of society in Suka Karya village. The technique used is a weaving technique that is combined with several other materials.
