Abstrak

ABSTRACT The development of imported clothing leftovers industry has been increasingly found in the market. According to observation result of “The Limited Edition Storeâ€, Jatiasih, Bekasi, imported clothing leftovers are leftovers from boutiques overseas. There are several causal factors of imported clothing leftovers, i.e. clothes that failed QC (quality control). Out of many imported clothing leftovers, one that has potential is denim. Besides a material that almost everyone wear, denim has strong characteristic and not easily torn. With the processing potential of rejected imported denim clothing leftovers, it can be used and processed with traditional Japanese style, which is Boro. Therefore, this study was aimed to increase economic, functional and esthetic values by processing rejected imported denim clothing leftovers for ready-to-wear deluxe fashion. The method of this study was qualitative with data collection of observation, literature studies, experiment and interview. The result of this study has a design theme of “Mottainai†which means to optimize function and empathy toward something. Keywords: Jatiasih, Rejected Denim, Boro, Ready-to-Wear Deluxe, Mottainai.
