Visual Narrative Approach in Zines: A Case Study of Cikondang Traditional Village
Kata Kunci:
Zines, Visual NarrativeAbstrak
This study aims to understand the contribution of visual narratives in conveying the cultural message of Kampung Adat Cikondang through a zine titled Memandang Cikondang. A qualitative descriptive method was used to analyze data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with customary leaders, and visual documentation. The results show that visual narratives combining elements of typography, illustration, and photography effectively interact with textual narratives to communicate the cultural richness of the traditional village. These findings support Caputo's theory, which emphasizes the importance of dialogue between text and image in creating a complete and contextual narrative. The balance between visual elements and textual narratives in the zine allows for an engaging and accessible delivery of cultural messages, especially for the younger generation. This research confirms the role of zines as innovative and potential cultural communication media in preserving local culture, while also filling the gap in literature regarding zine design methods in the context of traditional culture.
