Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes Dalam Film Pendek Dogardu
Abstract
The film Dogardu was inspired by concerns over the growing popularity of foreign cultures compared to local traditions. Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Culture shows that the Cultural Development Index (CDI) has stagnated and even declined in several indicators, particularly cultural participation and literacy. In 2023, the national IPK score stood at 53.74, lower than previous projections, with cultural expression and heritage indicators being the weakest. Similarly, the 2024 Socio-Cultural Statistics (BPS) recorded a decrease in public participation in cultural activities such as attending art performances, visiting museums, and joining cultural festivals. This study employs a qualitative method using Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory to analyze visual and verbal signs in the film Dogardu. The analysis focuses on denotation, connotation, and myth, supported by interviews with informants. Findings reveal that Dogardu conveys positive messages about cultural preservation. Through its symbolic representations, the film encourages younger generations to safeguard local traditions. Furthermore, it urges Indonesian audiences to choose films with meaningful content and calls on producers and filmmakers to create works that educate and inspire, fostering a generation that values culture and knowledge.
