Analisis Komunikasi Verbal dan Non Verbal Antarpribadi Pelatih Profesional dan Pemain Amatir Pada Klub Sepakbola Riverside Forest Dengan Ideologi Punk Football
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the interpersonal communication strategies employed by professional coaches in
overcoming team obstacles, as well as to examine the forms of verbal and nonverbal communication applied to
amateur players. The research was conducted on Riverside Forest, a football club with a unique ideological
foundation rooted in Punk Football—a movement that emphasizes egalitarian values, equality, and individual rights.
This ideology challenges traditional hierarchical structures and promotes freedom of expression and collective
participation. Riverside Forest represents the convergence of two distinct identities: professional coaches, often
shaped by formal systems, and amateur players from diverse, grassroots backgrounds. These differing identities led
to varying perspectives on how communication was interpreted and enacted within the team environment. The study
used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods under a constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through
in-depth interviews and participatory observation during training sessions and matches. The findings revealed that
communication within the Riverside Forest football club was open, inclusive, and dynamic. It was carried out in a
two-way manner, often involving a mix of local languages and informal expressions. This indicated the coach’s effort
to adapt to the club’s cultural and ideological context. Verbal and nonverbal communication was implemented
flexibly, depending on the individual characteristics of players and situational needs, reflecting an interpersonal
approach that aligned with the club’s punk-inspired philosophy.
