Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia has abundant natural resources that can be utilized as a source of natural dyes, one of which is purple sweet potato. Purple sweet potato contains natural color pigment, namely purple caused by anthocyanin. As a textile dye, purple sweet potato is still less popular to be used and developed as a natural coloring. Purplesweet potato can be optimized forits use as a source of natural dyes if using the help of mordant and fixation is appropriate. This study aims to produce natural dyes from purple sweet potato extracted using mordants. Therefore, a mordanting process and a fixation stage will be carried out to produce a different color on the organic cloth from the purple sweet potato extraction. Activities in this research focus on experimental methods based on data collection in the form of observations, interviews, and literature studies.
