IDENTITAS KOMUNIKASI PADA REMAJA GENERASI Z DALAM PENGGUNAAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI MEDIA SOSIAL SEBAGAI AKULTURASI BUDAYA DIGITAL

Abstrak

Pemahaman terhadap pembentukan identitas komunikasi remaja Generasi Z melalui penggunaan bahasa Inggris di
media sosial menjadi penting di tengah derasnya arus budaya digital global. Generasi Z merupakan kelompok usia
yang sangat aktif di ruang digital dan memiliki eksposur tinggi terhadap budaya global. Dalam konteks tersebut,
bahasa Inggris digunakan tidak hanya sebagai alat komunikasi, tetapi juga sebagai simbol ekspresi diri dan
keterhubungan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam
terhadap 30 informan kunci dari kalangan remaja pengguna aktif bahasa Inggris di media sosial, serta melibatkan dua
informan pendukung dan satu informan ahli. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teori Communication Theory of
Identity yang mencakup empat lapisan identitas: personal, enactment, relational dan communal (Hecht, 1993). Hasil
menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bahasa Inggris berkontribusi dalam membentuk identitas digital remaja, baik dari
sisi ekspresi diri, pengakuan sosial, maupun integrasi dalam komunitas digital global.
